OFFICERS & FOCUS AREAS


Officers
The Kent Environmental Council has an excecutive team of four officers:

Focus Areas
The executive team is assisted by an 12-member board, with each person having responsibility for one or more defined focus area. These focus areas are described briefly below:
City Government & Infrastructure
Monitors the actions of city government officials and the maintenance of the city's infrastructure as it relates to sound environmental practices

Dog Park
Supports the creation of a parks for dogs in Kent to roam, unleashed, while supervised by their owners

Energy
Advocates the wise and efficient use of all forms of energy and supports the use of altenative energy sources

Environmental Education
Seeks to teach the community about sound environmental stewardship

Environmental Justice
Supports environmental policies that do not have a negative impact any one particular group in the community or in society

Friday Breakfast
An informal gathering of any KEC members and guests who want to participate in this weekly social function

Haymaker Planning
Oversees the creation and maintenance of landscaping along Haymaker Parkway

Healthy Transportation
Supports the use of alternative forms of transportation that are healthy for both the individual and the environment

Home Energy Use
Supports the wise use of home energy sources and the practice of energy conservation in the home

Kent Urban Development
Monitors the development of the city's urban landscape

Lake Erie
Monitors the use and health of this natural resource

Membership
Accepts and tracks the enrollment of members and the payment of dues

Newsletter Distribution
Pertains to the prepartion of the KEC newsletter for mailing and the mailing of the newseletter

Newsletter Editor
Pertains to the writing, editing and formatting of the KEC newsletter

Portage Environmental Roundtable
Supports the mission and activities of this countywide environmental group

Recycling
Advocates for the resuse of as many consumables as possible

State Government
Monitors the actions of state government that pertain to environmental issues

Web Site
Maintains the content of the KEC Web site

Wetlands
Advocates the protection and preservation of local wetlands
